West Indian Kitchen, Jacksonville, NC

My children and I enjoyed dining at West Indian Kitchen restaurant during my recent visit to North Carolina.

After spending four years stationed in Okinawa, Japan, my craving for Caribbean food peaked upon my return to the States. West Indian Kitchen not only met but exceeded my expectations. The food was so incredible that I did not even have time to snap pictures – I couldn’t put the fork down.

I visited this restaurant three times during my nearly three-week stay in North Carolina while completing my separation process at Camp Lejeune. Each visit felt like a warm, home-cooked meal. The high-quality food and inviting environment instantly made me reminisce about waiting for my parents to finish cooking.

My children and I had difficulty choosing our favorites because everything we tried was outstanding. However, some standout dishes included their creamy mac & cheese, flavorful yellow rice, hearty red beans, tender and perfectly fried red snapper, mouthwatering oxtails, fragrant curry chicken, sweet and crispy fried plantains, and their unforgettable Johnny Cakes!

Overall Impression

The food was exceptional, and the owner's commitment to customer service left a lasting impression. They are approachable, hands-on, and genuinely care about their customers' needs. West Indian Kitchen is a place that makes you feel like a valued guest.

I wholeheartedly recommend West Indian Kitchen restaurant to anyone who loves Caribbean and Spanish cuisine. If you live in or near Jacksonville, NC, visit. You won’t be disappointed.
