Releasing Hidden Emotions: The Importance of Daily Self-Check-Ins

After dropping my children off at school, I meditated instead of jumping straight into my studies. This decision was an insightful experience, as it made me realize that I had been holding onto emotions that needed to be released. During meditation, I deliberately explored various emotions to observe their physical effects. Frustration and anger did not stir anything within me, but when I thought about feelings of abandonment, something shifted. My heart felt like it skipped a beat. Recognizing this, I repeated the affirmation, "I am releasing feelings of abandonment. I am never alone," silently at first, and then, despite my initial stubbornness, I spoke the words out loud. This vocal affirmation brought tears, not of sadness, but of joy and relief.

 

This experience highlighted how, in our fast-paced lives, we often overlook our emotional well-being. We are constantly moving—paying bills, raising a family, catering to various needs—and it becomes easy to neglect our emotional health. The responsibilities and the hustle can mask underlying feelings that need attention. My meditation session was a stark reminder that emotions can wait to be acknowledged and released beneath the surface of our everyday busyness. Taking just a few minutes to meditate or reflect can uncover these hidden feelings, providing an opportunity for healing and emotional clarity.

 

It's essential to check in with ourselves daily. Spending at least 15 minutes to assess our emotions can be a powerful tool for emotional self-care. This practice allows us to connect with our inner selves and address lingering feelings. Making time for daily check-ins can help maintain emotional balance and prevent the buildup of unresolved emotions. It also allows for a deeper understanding of our inner landscape, leading to greater peace and well-being. Prioritizing daily check-ins enables us to nurture our emotional health, ensuring we can better navigate life's demands with a clear and centered mind.
