Kinship

Updated: May 7, 2024

On 25 April 2024, I found an ad for a free Kinship session on Facebook. I allowed my intuition to lead because I knew I needed this since I hadn't been attending counseling. I was attracted to the ad's feeling of open space for communication and self-expression.

I created a profile on their website, and a list of individuals with their courses and dates was displayed. I was particularly drawn to Scott’s Wellbeing: Engaging Mindfulness session because I thought the speaker would promote self-awareness, self-compassion, acceptance, and empowerment. Mindfulness techniques help reduce stress levels and improve overall mental health.

On the day of the course, I received a text message stating, “Your Kinship Session is about to be at 11:00 AM ET.” It also provided a link to my Kinship account, which made it easy for me to sign in. I was honestly nervous about attending because I hadn’t been to a counseling session in a while, but I felt my Spirit team was leading me to a nonjudgmental space. They were right, and I felt 100 percent safe.

During the session, everyone was friendly and respectful, creating a welcoming environment. Scott spoke before we separated into small groups. I’m pleased that he insisted on taking a moment to breathe and clear our minds because that gave me a moment to release all the negative thoughts I had about myself. I then decided that I was going to allow myself to be seen. After we broke into our groups, Courtney, the facilitator, reviewed the topics Scott went over and let us express our feelings and experiences.

Signing up for this kinship session was an experience I needed very much, and I am excited about becoming a Kinship member. After rating the session, I immediately signed up for another session with Scott regarding unmasking authenticity. I suggest joining the community if you seek personal growth and need an open space to be yourself and heard. If you are interested, below is the link for a one-free month of unlimited Kinship sessions.
