Delonte West

Delonte West, a former NBA player, is celebrated for his incredible talent on the court with teams like the Boston Celtics and the Cleveland Cavaliers. However, his journey has been marked by personal challenges, including mental health struggles and financial difficulties. In 2020, he was seen in a heartbreaking situation on the streets, highlighting his struggles following retirement. Recently, West has begun to share his path to recovery, offering hope and inspiration to many with his remarkable resilience and dedication to overcoming adversity.

I'm not a basketball fan, but I came across a TikTok video of Delonte West that deeply resonated with me. In the video, he shared that he poured all his money into supporting his loved ones but lacked emotional and financial support in return.

As someone who walks by faith, receiving spiritual support doesn't mean we can sit back and do nothing. We need to actively engage in our lives, going beyond work and self-care to cultivate awareness and discernment. It's important to recognize that anyone can inadvertently become an "enemy," so we must stay mindful of our surroundings and relationships.

While I am still on my journey of learning and growth, I am here to share the strategies and wisdom that have helped empower and protect me along the way:

Express Gratitude to Your Spirit Team

Regularly acknowledge and thank your spirit team—guides, ancestors, and angels—for their support and guidance. This practice enhances your spiritual connection and strengthens your intent.

Avoid Destiny Destroyers & Swappers

Stay focused on your path and purpose. Recognize and respect your unique journey, removing distractions that may make you doubt your chosen direction.

Claim Your Talents and Gifts Publicly

Embrace and showcase your abilities with confidence. Share your skills and talents in appropriate spaces, encouraging recognition and validation from your community while inspiring others to embrace their gifts.

Make Strategic Investments

Investments are essential because they allow individuals to grow their wealth over time, helping secure financial independence and stability. Also, investing in oneself through education and skill development enhances personal empowerment and career prospects.

Trust Your Body's Signals

Pay close attention to your body's physical cues when something feels off. Intuition is a powerful tool; trust it to guide you when something isn't right.

Maintain Calm and Document Irregularities

If you sense that you are being targeted or stalked, stay composed. Begin a detailed journal documenting all strange incidents, including:

  • Date and Time: When the event occurred.

  • Description of Individuals: Names or physical descriptions of those involved.

  • Details of the Incident: Specific behaviors, objects, interactions, and locations related to the occurrences.

Establish Boundaries

Recognize that not everything needs to be shared. Protect your personal information and emotions from anyone who might misuse it. Communicate your boundaries clearly to others, and don't hesitate to say "no."

Prioritize Self-Protection

Take practical steps to ensure your safety, such as:

  • Personal Defense Tools: Consider purchasing items like pepper spray for immediate protection.

  • Legal Action: If necessary, file a police report documenting any threatening behavior.

  • Change of Residence: If you feel unsafe in your current living situation, consider relocating.

Embrace Healing Practices

To enhance your resilience, engage in therapies or activities that foster emotional and mental healing. Healing has no time limit. Be gentle with yourself during this journey, and know it's okay to seek support from trusted individuals as you navigate through your emotions.

Be Consistent

Consistency is crucial in all aspects of your personal empowerment journey. Regularly revisit and reinforce these practices to cultivate long-lasting change in your life.
